Collins Aerospace Systems recently announced that it was going to open its doors to female students from all over the globe. The subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (UTX on the NYSE) is going to welcome more than 2,300 girls in an effort to inspire them to pursue STEM fields. Collins Aerospace Systems also has the help of more than 1,000 employee volunteers who have generously donated their time to have an impact on the future generation. The company is going to be hosting more than 50 events at the end of February. The events are going to be called “Introduce a Girl to Engineering,” alluding to the goal of the events to inspire girls to pursue science fields.

Collins Aerospace Systems is not going to stop here. The company announced that it is going to donate $100,000 to an organization called DiscoverE. This organization is responsible for founding “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” events. Collins Aerospace Systems is thanking DiscoverE for its continued dedication to STEM fields and their efforts to inspire girls to enter them. This donation comes as a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility program. This program was rolled out last year.

The goal of DiscoverE is to build diversity in the STEM fields. This means getting more girls and women involved. DiscoverE knows that Collins Aerospace Systems has the potential to make an impact on the lives of young people all over the globe. Therefore, DiscoverE was proud to announce its continued partnership with Collins Aerospace Systems. The donation should help DiscoverE expand the breadth and depth of its impact all over the world.

DIscoverE added that it sees the value of having different perspectives from various people who are coming from different backgrounds. With more ideas, DiscoverE should be able to reach people in new ways. Even though there has been a lot of progress made over the past few years, there is still an under-representation of women in STEM fields. DiscoverE knows that its partnership with Collins Aerospace Systems can move the needle toward the middle. Events such as the ones discussed above are meant to pique the interest of young girls in the STEM fields, showing them that they can do anything they put their minds to.

Through the “Introduce a Girl” to engineering events, many young women are going to find valuable mentors who can continue to encourage foster a love of learning. The events sponsored by Collins Aerospace Systems are going to show young girls just what women are capable of in the STEM fields. Collins Aerospace Systems is one of the leaders in the global aerospace and defense industry and is encouraging young girls to follow their dreams.
