Hyungjung Kim met us at the booth for Doosan Robotics at Promat 2019 in Chicago! It was his first interview with IndustrialSage.
The booth for Doosan Robotics at Promat was massive, almost five times the size of the surrounding booths. Lush, thick white carpet exuded luxury to anyone who stepped forward to learn more about the countless displays. A sleek sports car literally took center-stage. Perfectly-synced white robot arms swooped and rotated around it as if delivering repairs or setting parts into place. Behind them, a flatscreen loomed nearly 20 feet into the air and stretched over forty feet from left to right.
While Doosan is one of the top industrial companies in Korea, it’s still fairly new in the states. However, given their packed booth, they clearly made a splash. Many companies at Promat were focused on co-bots (collaborative robots), and Doosan Robotics was no exception.
Hyungjung introduced Danny to an impressive pick-and-place robot arm with automatic collision detection. Its complex multiple joints allow for “more detail, and human-like work.” Best of all, users don’t need a degree to be able to control it.
“The user can use these commands…without studying the details…and just set the locations.
“They can make their own test kit with our robot.”
The robot we saw displayed by Doosan Robotics at Promat could not only pick and place objects, but actually insert them into unique slots. That’s above and beyond normal pick-and-place robot capabilities. Doosan developed software specifically for these robots that’s unique and easy to use. Controllers can add commands, set locations and define parameters. But once again, no robotics degree is required.
Whether or not you’re familiar with common robot commands, Doosan Robotics offers tools that are intuitive and user-friendly. Whether you need parts assembly or maintenance and cleaning or just the good old pick-and-place…Doosan Robotics has you covered.
