Introducing INDUCT, the AI-powered robotic system for small parcel, post, and ecommerce induction, created by Kindred Ai (Powered by Ocado)! INDUCT is designed to alleviate capacity shortages in fulfillment facilities and help ecommerce providers meet the breakneck pace of demand.

“Kindred INDUCT is an ultra-high-speed solution that automates the induction process, built on our proprietary Kindred CORE/Autograsp™ technology,” shared Marin Tchakarov, the CEO of Kindred Powered by Ocado, at MODEX 2022 where the robotic system was on display to the public. “Through the reinforced learning algorithms that we deploy in real-world settings, we have the capability to make this solution–– as well as others–– smarter, faster, and better over time; and pass that capability right to our customers.”

INDUCT identifies items of any makeup or fragility at high speed, and decides how to handle them: via conveyor, tilt-tray, or bomb bay sorters. This machine’s combination of machine vision and CORE/Autograsp™ technology allows it to conduct up to 2,000 picks per hour.

“Reinforcement learning is incredibly important to us,” Marin continued. “It’s part of our DNA and how we have developed our CORE technology.

“This is where our AI-powered machine vision, grasp, and manipulation technologies come in and solve those real-time problems in chaotic construction environments via singulation.” Singulation is when machine vision actually recognizes items as distinct and separate from one another, which is then applied in the grasping and manipulation of those items to direct them where desired or necessary.

INDUCT’s AI platform gets faster as it learns, adopting new data that Kindred’s robot fleet encounters across the world, every day. Altogether, this culmination of multiple technologies is working to make picking and sorting less unpredictable, and far more smooth than ever before.
