Kevin Reader met us at the booth for KNAPP at Promat 2019 in Chicago for another interview!
KNAPP is a billion-dollar company with immense expertise in digital supply chain. They’re also pursuing the field of digital value chain as well. They help build end-to-end warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment centers filled with automated software as well as hardware. Their management systems and other products reach multiple fields like grocery, retail, fashion and apparel, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and more.
One the main displays of the booth for KNAPP at Promat 2019 was their OSR Shuttle™ Evo+.
Some of KNAPP’s large-scale grocery distribution facilities handle 220,000 cases on a daily basis thanks to the Evo+.
This shuttle system can transport totes and carton out to picking stations of all sorts: manual, automatic, semi-automatic, robotic, palletizing, you name it.
KNAPP is also rolling out an agreement with Takeoff Technologies to launch fifty initial eCommerce sites for some of the nation’s largest grocers. It is, according to Kevin, “the tipping point of internet grocery.”
“The digital supply chain is key.”
One of KNAPP’s latest steps to continue their digital pursuits is the introduction of RedPilot. We heard about RedPilot from Kevin last year at MODEX…but now its implementation is in full swing. The new integration is active in the control towers of 47 different sites around the country. RedPilot participates in in real time planning, execution, and learning within a digitized system.
In fact, the success stories of these active sites have shown that RedPilot can reduce operating costs by 8%! For some facilities that could mean thousands, if not millions of dollars!
KNAPP’s booth at Promat also included a virtual reality simulator, where visitors could explore a digital distribution facility. Two gigantic wall-sized touch-screens also allowed visitors to select from multiple fields and categories of a flow chart. Each element showed them different tools or videos to help apply KNAPP’s solutions to solve their logistical problems they might be facing.
Be it digital or mechanization or software, KNAPP has something to offer to everyone.
