In an effort to grow the company’s portfolio, Rockwell Automation recently signed a deal to acquire Avnet Data Security, which is based out of Israel. This acquisition signals that Rockwell Automation is planning on expanding into the field of information solutions and connected services. The senior VP of Rockwell Automation Control Projects and Solutions stated that this acquisition is made out of an effort to accelerate the company’s rapid growth in this field.
In the acquisition announcement, the company’s leadership stated that Avnet has a strong history of exceptional training, research service delivery, and managed services that are going to help Rockwell Automation continue to expand on the global stage. As the deal is subject to approvals and conditions, it is expected to become final early this year.
While Rockwell Automation has stated that the deal is not expected to heavily impact the company’s fiscal results this year, Avnet security’s track record of success is sure to impact Rockwell Automation in the future. Over the past few years, there has been an increase in demand for automation products and services. To that end, Rockwell Automation has been working hard to expand its portfolio to meet the rising demands of clients in this field. Recently, IndustrialSage interviewed Rockwell Automation on its show. During the program, viewers were treated to an inside look at how Rockwell Automation has grown so quickly. It appears this growth is primed to continue in 2020.
Of note, Avnet provides numerous solutions in the realm of cybersecurity. Avnet is known to produce Cyber Academy, which is used to teach employees about the threat of cyberattacks, how they are conducted, and how they can be stopped. Avnet also produces a product called Incident Response, which is used to protect organizations in real-time from some of the biggest cyber-based threats in the world. Finally, Avnet also produces IT Security. This product is used to test the existing cybersecurity metrics of various companies and organizations. Then, when holes in a company’s defenses are identified, they can be patched before an actual threat damages the company’s data and servers.
Because Rockwell has now acquired Avnet, this means that customers of Rockwell can now rely on the company for cybersecurity measures. As Rockwell is expected to offer the cybersecurity services of Avnet to its existing customers, this should allow everyone to optimize their defenses against the growing cyber threats. Furthermore, this also means that Rockwell will have access to the cybersecurity expertise of Avnet as it seeks to grow and expand on its existing products. Rockwell should be able to capitalize on the record highs in terms of demand for cybersecurity products. This acquisition represents a significant development in the industry early in 2020.
