Stryten Energy Releases New Research Comparing Today’s Automotive Battery Technologies

Stryten Energy is challenging the idea that all premium batteries perform at the same level. An in-depth analysis conducted by an independent, third-party research company evaluated the performance of the Stryten Enhanced Flooded Battery versus a competing premium flooded battery.

The testing subjected samples of each battery type to two industry-standard tests used to gauge a battery’s performance.

The first test is a partial state of charge and micro cycling life test. This test focuses on Start/Stop functionality and modern vehicles with additional power demands such as safety features and infotainment. Start/Stop technology helps reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Depending on driving conditions, fuel savings can range from 3 to 10 percent. And nearly 6.7 million tons of greenhouse gasses are eliminated each year.

The second test is a high-temperature life cycle test. This test determines how a battery will withstand the high temperatures under the hood in a standard internal combustion engine.

The test results prove that not all “premium” batteries offer the same performance benefits.

The Stryten EFB excelled on the partial state of charge test, yielding more than two times the cycle life of the competing premium flooded battery.

While the two batteries were almost equal on the high-temperature test, the Stryten EFB proved to have a more robust alloy, which yielded higher heat tolerance at a lower grid thickness than the competing premium flooded battery.

Although the competing premium flooded battery addresses and improves upon the high-

temperature life aspect, it does not address the increasing rate of cycling-related failure modes or Start/Stop functionality.

For consumers choosing their replacement battery, these tests show that the Stryten EFB may last twice as long as the competing premium flooded battery and maintain longevity in high heat environments.

According to Bill Nonnamaker, Vice President of Sales, Transportation: “Today’s vehicles require advanced battery technology that can power key systems that make them safer and increase fuel efficiency. Stryten’s EFB offers the high levels of performance and battery life necessary to meet these demands.”

“Spent batteries are fully recyclable, making them a sustainable choice. Stryten Energy’s EFBs are manufactured in the U.S. with more than 95% recycled materials.”

As vehicle power demands continue to evolve, choosing the right battery will become even more important. Stryten Enhanced Flooded Batteries are designed from the ground up to meet the needs of modern vehicles by combatting the fastest-growing causes of premature battery failure, while also helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
